Making exercise a part of your daily life is crucial to healthy living and a happy life. It is true that life can get really hectic at times but that is not a reason good enough to avoid exercise. The key is to find the right kind of exercise for you which suits your body needs and personality. Anaerobic exercise is a popular workout routine for many weight watchers and fitness fanatics. Although the term sounds unfamiliar for many, it is a very effective workout and quite different from the usual Aerobic exercises.
It is simply a high intensity workout that improves your endurance and muscle strength. It is a type of calorie-torching exercise which breaks down glucose in the body without using oxygen. This higher power version of exercise generally consists of short activities that release a lot of energy within a small time period causing your oxygen demand to surpass your oxygen supply. These movements or exercises include weightlifting, calisthenics, sprinting, high-intensity interval training (HIIT) etc.
Anaerobics vs Aerobics
Both these forms of exercise are very different from each other. Aerobic exercises involve cardio routines that increase your breathing and heart rate for a continuous time. On the other hand anaerobic exercise provides rapid bursts of energy and is performed at maximum potential for a shorter period of time. Your breathing and heart rate are different in both the exercises.
In aerobics exercise, your heart rate goes up to increase the blood flow to your muscles. The amount of oxygen in the blood is maximized. On the other hand, during anaerobic exercise, your body needs immediate energy so relies on stored energy sources in the body rather than oxygen.
Aerobic exercises are usually gentle, rhythmic and are longer. Whereas, anaerobic exercises tend to be shorter in length but with a higher intensity. Aerobic exercises are generally great to increase endurance while anaerobic exercises help to increase strength, bone density and muscle mass.
All the mighty benefits of Anaerobic exercise
Anaerobic exercise is highly recommended for increasing body endurance. It strengthens your body and makes other workouts easier. It also builds stronger muscles as your body uses energy stored in muscles rather than from oxygen. This leads to improvement in muscle mass. It is also very beneficial for bones and can increase both bone density and strength. Osteoporosis is a very common bone condition and anaerobic exercise provides the perfect antidote for it. Apart from this, anaerobic exercise is simply fantastic for rapid fat loss and an improved mood.
As it is a challenging way of exercise, there are certain things to consider before adopting it. Beginners should not begin with anaerobic exercise as going too hard can increase the chances of injury. Also, you must always remember that each anaerobic exercise workout session requires a complete recovery period afterwards. This type of exercise is best done 2-3 times in a week with recovery intervals.
