High Intensity Interval Training

High Intensity Interval Training is one of the most popular workouts currently and for all the right reasons. When you do a workout or follow a fitness regime, your aim is to be fit and healthy both physically and emotionally. A healthy body, mind and soul is the ultimate goal of life because that promises longevity and fulfillment in all aspects of life.

What is HIIT?

HIIT exercises offer short bursts of intense workout followed by a period of recovery. It is a type of cardio and brings your heart up to your maximum heart rate for a short interval and then back to a recovery period. Intensity of these intervals are varied and your body is made to work harder, using both your aerobic and anaerobic systems. A HIIT workout can burn a lot more calories in a shorter period of time than other steady cardio workouts.


The idea is to vary workout intensity in different time intervals to achieve maximum body exertion. The rapid pace of HIIT makes it a more effective way of weight training. The workout involves a combination of short but very high intensity cardio exercises like 30 seconds of sprinting followed by a minute of walking and repeating this cycle for about 10 minutes.

The repeated bouts of high intensity and then recovery has proved to be highly beneficial. Numerous researches have observed that HIIT has benefits down to the cellular level and it is not just a workout routine that sheds pounds or makes you sweat to burn calories. It is a complete health package and when you do HIIT exercise, you are buying good health.
